It’s called a Scam Survival Toolkit, and it’s designed to help people regain peace of mind after being victimized by scammers.
South Dakota Better Business Bureau vice-president Jessie Schmidt says reaching out for help is an important step in recovering.
Schmidt says overcoming a sense of shame or embarrassment for becoming a victim is also important.
Schmidt says feeling shame is a normal reaction, but it’s important to remember that the scammers are pros at what they do.
Schmidt says reporting problems to the BBB’s Scam Tracker could raise awareness and help others avoid becoming victims of the same scam.
