The Governor’s Office of Economic Development has grant funding available to help retailers install ethanol blender pumps at their gas stations.
Deputy Commissioner Chris Schilken says the Blender Pump Grant program has been allocated $500,000. He says applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, through Aug. 31, 2024.
Schilken says businesses may apply for up to $25,000 for the first pump and $10,000 for subsequent pumps. He says actual awards will be dependent on the number of applicants.
Schilken says ethanol is an important part of value-added agriculture in South Dakota, with 1.4 billion gallons produced annually. He says he’s pleased GOED can offer this assistance to retailers so they can increase the availability and encourage the use of ethanol blended fuels.
