Simone Biles secured the gold medal in the women’s all-around competition with a score of 15.066 on her floor routine, 59.131 overall. Sunie Lee of the USA finished with a bronze medal with a score of 56.465. It is the third time the USA has put two on the podium for the all-around and marks the sixth consecutive time the USA has won this event.
The scenes of Simone Biles and Suni Lee parading around with an American flag after seeing the final scores was enough to bring tears to your eyes, as they celebrated with the US fans in the arena.
Biles now has nine medals (most amongst female gymnasts) six of which are golds (also most amongst gymnasts).
