The Oahe YMCA Board of Directors has hired Rachel Williams to be their new Chief Executive Officer.
Williams, who is from Pierre, comes to the Y with more than 11 years of experience working for state government, most recently as a director for the Bureau of Finance and Management. In her new role which begins Sept. 1, 2024, Williams will be responsible for managing the Y’s operations, programming and fundraising efforts.
Board President Connie Halverson says they looked at candidates from around the country, but Williams stood out. She says Williams’ proven record of strategic leadership, fiscal management and community engagement is exactly what they were looking for in a leader.
Williams says the Oahe YMCA’s mission is putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body have impacted many and she’s excited to become a part in it.
Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She succeeds Aaron Fabel who stepped down in February (Feb. 29, 2024).
