South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) will feature hot ag topics with Congressional leaders, farm broadcaster Mike Pearson and a chance to win $500 in groceries at this year’s Dakotafest, August 20-22 near Mitchell, S.D.
All three days SDFB will offer free coffee and doughnuts while supplies last, beginning at 9 a.m. in the SDFB Hoop Building (Lot 447) and popcorn each afternoon beginning at 2 p.m.
Information will also be available on policy priorities SDFB is following and the many benefits of being a member of SDFB including the South Dakota Farm Bureau Health Plans.
SDFB and Farm Bureau Financial Services (FBFS) will be giving away $500 in free groceries each day during Dakotafest. Attendees can also register to win a DeWalt battery-powered string trimmer that will be awarded at the conclusion of the show.
SDFB will host two Educational Forums in Reaves Technology Building
On Tuesday, South Dakota Farm Bureau will be presenting a forum focusing on Young Producer Programs and Finance Opportunities at 12 p.m. in the Reaves Technology and Innovation Building.
Knowing where to begin as a young producer interested in starting their own operation can be a challenge. This forum will provide a few resources that are available for beginning farmers. Forum participants will include:

· Nathan D. Sparks, First Dakota Bank
· Matt Smith, farmer and Regional Salesperson for CLAAS
On Wednesday, SDFB will be hosting a Congressional Update with South Dakota’s Congressional delegation at 10:30 a.m. featuring Senator John Thune (R), Senator Mike Rounds (R), and Congressman Dusty Johnson (R).
Farm Broadcaster Mike Pearson to Present Ag Outlook
Mike Pearson, host of “This Week in Agribusiness” will be at the SDFB Hoop Building (Lot 447) on Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m., for an ag outlook presentation. Pearson’s visit to Dakotafest is sponsored by Farm Bureau Financial Services.
