AUGUST 22, 2024:
Engineers and repair technicians are making slow and steady progress getting the DRG Media Group studios in Pierre back on the air after a lightning strike during a storm earlier this week (Aug. 19-20, 2024).
General Manager Diane Deis says multiple computers, sound boards, receivers, routers, modems and pretty much all other electrical equipment we need to have a strong, clear signal were damaged. Both the parts needed to make the repairs and the broadcast engineers needed to install them are challenging to locate. She says we are waiting for parts, but some things are specialized and will take longer to get here than some of the more common pieces.
Deis says the DRG team is doing all we can to provide as much of our normal daily content as possible. She thank the DRG Media Group advertisers, radio station listeners, website viewers, internet steam listeners and mobile app users for hanging in there with us as we work to get everything back up and running.
Additionally, Deis encourages anyone who enjoys working with the types of equipment radio stations use, to consider a career in broadcast engineering. She says there’s definitely a demand for that kind of technical expertise.
AUGUST 20, 2024:
The DRG Media Group studio office in Pierre was struck by lightening during last night’s storm (Aug. 20, 2024). The strike caused damage causing stations to drop off the air. Currently KGFX AM 1060 has been restored and the engineering and operations team are working diligently to get your favorite FM station back on the air as soon as possible. We thank you for your concern and appreciate your patience.
