Six Warrant Officers and eight Officer Candidates were pinned or received their Certificate of Eligibility to pin in the future at a ceremony held at Joint Force Headquarters on Camp Rapid on August 17, 2024.
Five Warrant Officers and seven Officer Candidates took the oath of the officer administered by Army Brig. Gen. Deb Bartunek, Director of Joint Staff, South Dakota National Guard.
“We’re charged with leading Soldiers into the toughest missions imaginable. Make sure your subordinates know they can trust, and that you’ll do what’s best for them!” said Bartunek.
The SDNG Warrant Officer Candidates:
WO1 Alan Green branching Ordnance, Jon Hubregtse is branching Signal, WO1 Reed Ludwig is branching Ordnance, WO1 Courtney Nelson is branching Military Intelligence, SFC Caleb Schaefer is accepting a Certificate of Eligibility, and WO1 Chris Weber is branching Engineer.
The SDNG Officer Candidates:
Officer Candidate Kylie Barington will be accepting a Certificate of Eligibility and looks forward to accepting an AGR position when given the opportunity.
Officer Candidate Joey Bertrand, Officer Candidate Jacob Hernandez, Officer Candidate Samuel Jacomet, Officer Candidate Clayton Lau, Officer Candidate Christopher Murphy, Officer Candidate Riley Smith, and Officer Candidate Dwayne Williams Jr. all received their commission and pinned on the rank of 2nd Lt. in the South Dakota Army National Guard.
“I’d like to offer my sincerest congratulations to each of you for having the courage to make this important step in your career. I know this is a difficult endeavor and you’ve faced my challenges on this journey – long nights, stressful days, and made many sacrifices along the way. I’d like to tell you the hard work is done, however just the opposite is true. The hard work is about to begin,” said Bartunek.
