Abandoning the nostalgia for these would be SO dumb: Rumors have been swirling online that Capri Sun planned to ditch their iconic pouches and switch to bottles instead. (!!!)
But ’90s kids everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief . . . it’s not true. The pouches and their famously hard-to-insert straws aren’t going anywhere.
It started with a rumor they were planning to sell 12-ounce bottles of Capri Sun. And they just confirmed that part IS true. But they’re not replacing pouches.
They’re planning to add the 12-ounce bottles next year to get more adults drinking their product. The pouches are only six ounces.
They responded to the bogus pouch rumor on social media saying, “Don’t believe everything you read on the internet . . . we’d never disrespect the pouch.”
Then in the same post, they announced what SOUNDS like a joke but isn’t, apparently. Starting this week, they’re selling full-sized PALLETS of Capri Sun exclusively through Walmart. (Here’s the post.)
They told People.com that “after seeing fans’ panic to the news,” they wanted to reassure people that “the pouch is here to stay in an epic way.”
One report said a pallet of more than 3,800 Capri Suns will only run you $250, or around six cents a pouch. (???) Normal 10-packs are usually more like 30 cents a pouch.
