A public hearing for the Second Reading of a solar farm ordinance for Walworth County was held in the courtroom of the Walworth County Courthouse on Thursday, September 5th. The ordinance places a one mile setback for residential dwellings and one thousand feet for property lines.
Colton Berens, whose family’s land is at the center of the solar farm proposition, spoke in opposition of the ordinance and said the company they’ve been working with has pulled out.
Jerome Stiegelmeier of Selby also spoke in opposition to the ordinance.
Attorney Mitch Peterson spoke in favor of the ordinance.
Jennifer Andree thanked the commissioners for their work on this issue.
Commissioner Kevin Holgard commented during discussion before the roll-call vote.
The commission then voted 4 to 1 to adopt the solar farm ordinance as proposed.
