At Wednesday (09/11/24) night’s meeting of the Mobridge City Council, Jerod Klabunde of Moore Engineering discussed with the council alternate designs for the wastewater treatment plant project. The council approved moving forward with a design from Moore Engineering that will lower the cost from $8.2 million to $7 million. Klabunde will now provide that plan to the SD Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Walworth County Emergency Manager Jeff Jensen informed the council of the ongoing issue of radio connectivity problems among EMS, law enforcement, and ambulance and the need for a new tower. Jensen says the state will not fund the building of a new tower on its own, and he is currently working on finding a solution that could include costs to both the City and the County.
Council approved an estimate to remodel the Mobridge Youth Organization bathrooms.
Council discussed repairs that need to be done on the pool slide and whether a smaller slide might be a better option.
A joint powers agreement with Game, Fish, and Parks for the shooting range, extending the end date to December 2029, was approved.
Council approved the first reading of the 2025 appropriations ordinance.
Council approved the airport grant agreement for the master plan project.
An agreement for generators was approved.
Public hearings were held and approvals given for temporary on-sale liquor licenses for the Lake Oahe Learning Academy’s Mobridge Pheasant Races in October, the Mobridge Pink Ladies’ Regional Dart Tournament in December, the Mobridge Chamber’s Ice Fishing Tournament in January, the Mobridge Rodeo Association’s fundraiser in February, and the Chamber’s Denny Palmer Memorial Classic in June.
Public hearing was held and approval given for the transfer of an on-sale liquor license at the former Windjammer restaurant.
A special council meeting is scheduled for September 25th.
