A 42 year old man from Pierre was arrested over the weekend after attempting to start a fight with a law enforcement officer.
According to the Pierre Police Department, shortly after midnight Saturday morning (Sept. 20, 2024), Patrol Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Orion Avenue for an intoxicated subject walking around a residence. The Officers found the subject, identified as 42-year-old Arnold Provancial Jr., sitting behind a shed.
Officers requested Provancial come to the patrol vehicle to figure out how to get him home. Provancial stood up, took a fighting stance with one of the officers and aggressively advanced toward the Officer. Provancial was told multiple times to stop, but he did not comply. The Officer then used his taser on Provancial, who was taken into custody without further incident.
Provancial was medically cleared, then taken to the Hughes County Jail. He’s charged with obstructing a law enforcement officer and simple assault against a law enforcement officer.
