South Dakota corn stocks in all positions on September 1, 2024, totaled 132 million bushels, up 62% from 2023, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 79.0 million bushels are stored on farms, up 103% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 53.2 million bushels, are up 26% from last year.
Soybeans stored in all positions totaled 22.7 million bushels, up 43% from last year. On-farm stocks are 7.60 million bushels, up 95% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 15.1 million bushels, are up 26% from 2023.
All wheat stored in all positions totaled 76.1 million bushels, up 27% from a year ago. On-farm stocks of 42.5 million bushels are up 42% from 2023 and off-farm stocks of 33.6 million bushels are up 12% from last year.
Oats stored in all positions totaled 9.75 million bushels, up 43% from last year. On-farm stocks of 7.40 million bushels are up 51% from 2023. Off-farm stocks of 2.35 million bushels are up 23% from last year.
Barley stored in all positions totaled 256,000 bushels. On-farm stocks of 210,000 bushels, are down 40% from last year. Off-farm stocks are 46,000 bushels.
Sorghum off-farm stocks totaled 789,000 bushels, down 18% from a year ago.
