NOVEMBER 6, 2024:
The driver of a cement truck received serious, non life threatening injuries after the truck rolled onto it’s top early Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 5, 2024) east of Pierre.
Pierre Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ian (eye-in) Paul says the cement truck rolled partially into a ditch at a job site near Hinkley Loop, just off Highway 34.
Hughes County Sheriff Patrick Callahan says emergency responders were able to rescue the driver who was then transported by AMR Ambulance to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre. He says the name of the driver is not being released because the accident is still under investigation. But, Callahan says, no charges are anticipated.
Other agencies responding were the South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Pierre Volunteer Fire Department’s Rescue Squad.

Pierre Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ian Paul says the cement truck rolled partially into a ditch at a job site when the incident happened.
