Developers are said to be considering putting plants in Brazil because it’s the world’s largest producer of ethanol, which can be used to produce SAF. Brazil also has an abundance of cheap crops to make biofuels, giving the South American country a leg up on competitors like the U.S. Many of Brazil’s supplies are reported to rank better in terms of carbon emissions, a key to meeting requirements for future SAF manufacturing. Organizations like Airbus, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and others put together a study on the topic, and they say preliminary data shows Brazil has the potential to produce over 13 billion gallons by 2030.
