A 40 year old man from Pierre is in custody after failing to update his address on South Dakota’s sex offender registry.
Information from the Pierre Police Department says their Investigations Division became aware of a registered sex offender who was not residing at his registered address in Pierre. An investigation showed that Archie Mack was registered to be living at 325 S. Brule in Pierre, but had not been staying there for an extended period of time. Pierre detectives learned that Mack was living in the 100 block of S. Central Ave in Pierre, but was not allowed to stay there because that address is in a community safety zone.
Tuesday (Nov. 19, 2024), Pierre Police detectives located Mack at the residence on S. Central and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Hughes County Jail and is charged with failing to provide written notice of a new address and residing in a community safe zone.
Mack is required to register as a sex offender due to a 2005 federal court conviction for sexual abuse of a minor.
