One person died and another was seriously injured Saturday morning (Nov. 23, 2024, at 8:41am) in a single-vehicle crash one mile north of Alexandria, SD.
The names of the people involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates a 68 year old female from Council Bluffs, Iowa, was driving a 2024 Chevy Silverado westbound on I-90 near mile marker 344. The driver drifted into the median, corrected steering, then entered the north ditch where the vehicle rolled.
The driver passed away at the scene. The 62 year old female passenger from Oceanside, California, was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. A four year old girl received minor injuries. All three people were wearing a seatbelt.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
