The Govs went on the road to Rapid City for a two-game stint into this weekend, first taking on the Rapid City Stevens Raiders. It was a slow start for the Govs but Lennix Dupris scored 5 late points in the first quarter to cut the deficit. But the Raiders were nearly flawless from outside the arc putting together an explosive second quarter and taking a 31-point lead to the half. Outstanding paint play from senior Taliyah Porter and junior Halle Peterson was enough to stave off a more competitive Pierre team in the second half. The Govs offense started to flow in the final two quarters thanks to some good shooting from Emery Larson, Addison Soma also showed her strength on defense tallying two blocks.
The Govs spend the night in Rapid City tonight and will take on the Cobblers tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 PM MT. Coverage will begin on KGFX at 12:30 PM MT.
