South Dakota State University Extension’s 2025 Crop Hour webinar series will return in January.
Crop Hour provides producers and industry professionals with information to navigate the challenges and opportunities of farming in South Dakota. People can participate live via Zoom or watch the recorded presentations on YouTube.
The series will start on Jan. 7, 2025, with webinars from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. CST every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until Feb. 27, 2025. They are free to attend. Continuing education credits are available to those who participate in the live webinar.
Registration is required to receive the Zoom link. To register, visit extension.sdstate.edu/events and search “crop hour”.
“Crop Hour is a great way for producers to utilize time in our off-season to learn a little bit more, plan for next year, and be able to do it in their own space,” said Sara Bauder, SDSU Extension Forage Field Specialist. “The information is tailored to the environment in this region, and local speakers can give feedback and answer questions in a live webinar setting.”
Entering its fifth year, this series of presentations are scheduled by topic rather than by crop type. Bauder said the 2025 series will also provide more advanced content, including more information about ongoing research. Emerging crop management and pest issues will still be emphasized.
Weekly topics are:
- Jan. 7-9: Soils and water
- Jan. 14-16: Weeds integrated pest management
- Jan. 21-23: Insect integrated pest management
- Jan. 28-30: Disease and fungicides
- Feb. 4-6: Specialty crops
- Feb. 11-13: Crop and forage production
- Feb. 18-20: Climate/business management
- Feb. 25-27: Regenerative agriculture
