If you have never seen (or even heard of) a teddy bear toss at a hockey game, it’s a unique experience you have to see in person. Hockey teams will often host a “Teddy Bear Night” where fans bring teddy bears to donate to charities and different causes. But it is the way you get to donate them that is the fun part. At a certain point of the contest, the PA announcer will call for all teddy bears to be thrown onto the ice at once, creating a fuzzy flurry inside the arena.
This past Saturday, the Watertown Shamrocks held their first ever Teddy Bear Toss in assistance with the Salvation Army of Watertown, and the success was astonishing!
In total, 612 teddy bears were donated to Salvation Army along with $330 worth of donations. A huge thanks to all Shamrocks fans who donated, and to the Salvation Army of Watertown!
