The Pierre City Commission has signed off (Dec. 17, 2024) on the purchase of five new water circulators.
Water Superintendent Robby Townley says the equipment is needed now that Pierre has treated drinking water.
Townley says the circulators will help keep the composition consistent throughout all of the tanks.
Townley says the Utilities Department has experience working with this type of circulator.
Brad Palmer, City Utilities Director, says in the summer, the town cycles through enough water that the circulation equipment is unnecessary. But, he says, during the winter months when the community uses less water, the new equipment will help maintain high, water-quality standards.
The city will install the equipment next year (2025).
