Brule County rivals Kimball/White Lake and Chamberlain faced off last night for a boys and girls doubleheader that lived up to the hype. In game number one of the evening, the Lady Wildkats took down the Cubs 43-30, going on a commanding 8-0 run to start the game. After taking a 12-5 lead into the second quarter, the Wildkats didn’t look back extending their lead to double-digits for the remainder of the game. Rylee McCord led the game in scoring with 17-points, Summer Skluzak also had an outstanding game for the Kats with 16-points. Natalie Nelson held her own for the Cubs scoring 11, but Kimball/White Lake would come thru with their second win of the season, Cubs fall to 1-4.
In the boys game, it seemed that the Cubs were going to cruise to the win taking a 29-16 lead into the half. Going into the fourth, Chamberlain was protecting a 10-point lead but a barrage of threes brought the Kats within one score. Some crucial free throws made by Chamberlain late would hold off the late push and win 50-43. The Cubs got a huge boost from their bench, scoring 13. Josiah Vaad finished with 11, and all five starters for Chamberlain found themselves on the stat sheet with points. Kimball/White Lake had 14-points from Keaton Christensen and 12 from Jay Dee Gough but it wouldn’t be enough as they fall to 0-4 on the year.
