North Central hosted Timber Lake for a doubleheader basketball matchup last night, and both schools left with a win. In the girls game, a down-to-the-wire finish gave the home team the 41-36 win after a booming fourth quarter for the Thunder. After trailing 18-14 after the first half, both teams came out hot in the third quarter combining for 25-total points. But the Thunder, led by Amree Vander Vors exploded in the final quarter of play outscoring Timber Lake 14-6 to get the win. Vander Vors finished with 20-points shooting an impressive 46.7% from the field. Jasmine Nash finished with 13 in the loss.
In game two, Timber Lake got their revenge as the Panthers took an early 19-12 lead and did not look back. With 19 in both the first and second quarter, and 17 in the third quarter the Panthers cruised to a 63-40 victory. Cole Ducheneaux led Timber Lake in scoring with 17, and Treyden Beer also ended up in double-digits with 11. On the Thunder side, Donovan Nelson went 4/5 inside the arc and finished with 16.
