Thursday night saw the first road game of the season for the Mobridge-Pollock boys basketball team, after a 4-0 homestand to begin the year. Away from home nearly 300 miles, the Tigers lost to Dell Rapids 59-to-39. Mobridge-Pollock fell behind 10-0 early in the first quarter, as the Quarriers were sinking their shots right out of the gate. By games end, Dell Rapids would make 11 three-pointers, helping grow their lead in each quarter. It was 17-11 after 1, 33-21 at the half, and the Tigers were outscored by eight in the second half. It was a struggle shooting the basketball for Mobridge-Pollock, as they went 33% from the field, including just 5-of-25 from three.
Senior Shane Henderson was the focus for Mobridge-Pollock, he scored 16 points on 13 shots, with eight rebounds. Our player of the game was Dell Rapids unstoppable senior forward Tad Tjaden, who dropped 27 points on the Tigers. Tjaden was four-of-six from beyond the arc, and tallied four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Sophomore Lincoln Anderson added 15 on five made three-pointers.
Next up for the Tigers is Shiloh Christian, up in Bismarck on Saturday night. They return home Tuesday against Potter County. Our coverage of that game begins at 7 p.m. central, January 7.
