For the week ending January 5, 2025, topsoil moisture supplies in South Dakota rated 34% very short, 45% short, 21% adequate, and 0% surplus, according to the
USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Subsoil moisture supplies rated 33% very short, 46% short, 21% adequate, and 0% surplus.

Field Crops Report:

Winter wheat condition rated 12% very poor, 18% poor, 48% fair, 22% good, and 0% excellent.
