There was a lot of purple inside the Pirate’s building last night as a good crowd made the short 45-minute drive southeast to watch their boys take on Highmore-Harrold. The Chargers offense was clicking instantly, and Wes Wittler looked to be handling his injured toe nicely as he continuously carved up the pirates in the paint. Wittler also made a bit of history about half way through this contest as he scored the 1,000th point of his career. Wittler was honored at mid-court with a personal sign congratulating him on the achievement. Wittler would finish with 21-points and was named the Baumann Lumber Player of the Game.
Aidan Ferens and Brooks McPeak registered a couple deep threes late to keep the Pirates in the mix, but ferocious defense from Sully Buttes forced a consistent flow of turnovers that ultimately turned to points. All of this leading to the dominant 71-46 victory for the Chargers, who improved to 3-2 on the season. The Pirates fall to 1-5. Both teams will be off for the weekend and will play again next Tuesday, Sully Buttes taking on Ipswich and Highmore-Harrold taking on Faulkton Area.
