Fort Pierre, Pierre firefighters contain structure fire under brutally cold conditions Monday afternoon

Volunteer firefighters from Fort Pierre and Pierre spent about three hours Monday afternoon (Jan. 20, 2025) putting out a structure fire along Sale Barn Road in Fort Pierre.

Fort Pierre Fire Department Assistant Chief John Luce says the home was fully engulfed when they arrived.

Also responding to the scene were the Stanley County Sheriff’s Office, AMR ambulance service and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
