WATERTOWN, S.D.–The defending state football champion Watertown Arrows will enjoy a new home field advantage in 2025.
The next phase of improvements to Allen Mitchell Field will ramp up this spring.
The Arrows football team is moving home games there from the aging Watertown Stadium.
School District Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen tells KWAT News, “one of my favorite moments was when the purple and gold went on the (west side) grandstand. The press box is now pretty well enclosed so they can start working on the inside of that. The fieldhouse on the south end is enclosed and the heat is operational. It’s really taken shape.”
Danielsen says due to ongoing construction, it does not appear as though the west side grandstands will be able to be occupied during this spring’s Watoma Relays, meaning there will be no finish line view for fans.
However, the stadium project is scheduled for completion August 1st.
The Arrows will open their new home stadium, and defense of their state title, on August 29th at 7 p.m. against Sioux Falls Jefferson.
The general contractor for the work is Hasslen Construction of Ortonville, Minnesota.
