South Dakota Department of Tourism Secretary Jim Hagen says they’re seeing an uptick in the number of people that want to travel slowly and experience, what he refers to as JOMO– or the joy of missing out.

South Dakota’s tourism industry saw another record breaking year in 2024.
South Dakota Department of Tourism Secretary Jim Hagen says their annual study– conducted by Tourism Economics– showed the state increasing in visitor numbers and visitor spending when compared to 2023.
