The O’Gorman Lady Knights continued to look like the best team in the state Friday night in their 54-34 win at home against Pierre. The Govs started out sharp from three knocking down four outside shots making it a one-point game after a quarter. The Lady Knights defense ratcheted up the pressure in the second quarter, however, and Ruby Moore simply could not miss. Moore would finish the first half (and game) with 21-points, which led both teams.
The Lady Knights continued their strong play, stretching the lead out to 27 at one point. But you must give the Govs credit, as they were able to shrink that down to 14 and forcing O’Gorman HC Kent Kolsrud to use a timeout to subdue the momentum shift.
In the postgame show, Pierre HC Kirk Beebout said he was proud of his team in the way they fought back, but also acknowledged the high level of play from O’Gorman. The Govs will take on Harrisburg 2/4 in their next game, and O’Gorman will travel to Tea Area on 2/4 as well.
