The Walworth County Commission began their Thursday, February 20th, meeting as the Planning and Zoning Board to hold a public hearing for a WEB Water variance request. Walworth County Director of Equalization Greg Pudwill described the specifics of the request.
The Board passed a motion to approve that variance request, and approved it a second time as the Walworth County Commission.
Register of Deeds
Register of Deeds Brenda DeToy gave the commission her monthly report and introduced her new deputy – Betty Eckroth of Mobridge.
New Executive Director of Housing in Mobridge
Jamie Dietterle stopped by during the meeting and introduced himself to the commissioners. Dietterle has taken on the role of the new Executive Director of Housing for the City of Mobridge.
Sheriff
Commissioner Duane Mohr told the commissioners that two vehicles in the Sheriff’s Department will be surplussed and put up for auction in April.
Landfill
For the landfill, the commission approved an agreement with Geotek for 2025 groundwater monitoring and an annual report. This monitoring is required by the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Auditor
Walworth County Auditor Kim Dills said the Auditor’s office balanced with the Treasurer’s office in January.
The commissioners also approved a travel request for Dills and Walworth County Treasurer Leah Holder to attend the South Dakota Association of County Officials workshop in Pierre on April 9th and 10th.
The next regular meeting of the Walworth County Commission will be Tuesday, March 4th.
