For the second season in a row, the Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers basketball team is heading to the SoDak 16. They accomplished that feat with Thursday’s 84-41 dismantling of Crow Creek in the regional semifinal. In a rematch of last season’s regional semifinal that Mobridge-Pollock won, and of their meeting this season the Lady Tigers took by 48 points, it was wire-to-wire domination in their first win-or-go-home game this year. The night began with a 12-0 Mobridge-Pollock scoring run, on their way to a 26-4 first quarter. The lead would grow each quarter from there, including a 22-point second that put them ahead 48-12 at halftime.
The entire second half was played under a running clock, and allowed the Lady Tigers to coast to victory. Sophomore guard Shayla Rath led the game with a season-best 21 points, sinking five three-pointers in the process. The victory improves Mobridge-Pollock to 17-3, continuing their best season in recent memory. It will continue with next Thursday’s SoDak 16 meeting against St. Thomas More. Lady Tigers are the five-seed, and will take on the 12th-seeded Cavaliers in a neutral site to be determined. The winner of that game will advance to the state tournament.
