Congratulations, Nick! You have represented South Dakota and the USA with class and dignity. We are incredibly proud of you.
In His Own Words
Playing sports has taught me many valuable lessons and has helped me in my everyday life. Competition helps me set and work towards goals, as well as learn discipline. Throughout the years, I’ve learned that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. When I fail, I work harder and practice more to be physically, emotionally, and mentally ready to take on the next challenge. I have found that with practice you will always get better. When I want to quit, I take a step back and remember the goals I have set for myself. You will learn from your mistakes, and you can bounce back after setbacks. Always work with others and talk things out. Celebrate when you succeed as you have earned it.
My name is Siddharth Mehta. and I am originally from India. I came to Sioux Falls as an exchange student and graduated from O’Gorman High School in 2016. As an international student I went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from South Dakota State University and a master’s degree in Sports and Athletics Administration from Gonzaga University.
My journey with Special Olympics South Dakota began as a volunteer, and as I learned more about the organization’s mission, I felt deeply connected to its purpose. I am passionate about caring for athletes and ensuring they have the resources, support, and opportunities to thrive both on and off the field. I am incredibly grateful to be part of this wonderful organization and to contribute to its mission of inclusion, empowerment, and athletic excellence.
