Rhoden discussing economic development options during “Open for Opportunity Tour” this week

South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden has been traveling the state this week sharing information about his Open for Opportunity Tour.

During a stop at the DRG Media Group studios (March 18, 2025), Rhoden said the hope is to bring what towns are doing– or wanting to do– together with what state government is working on in order to access the best economic development opportunities possible.

One area Rhoden thinks has potential for expansion is international trade

Rhoden also sees value-added ag projects as another way to enhance South Dakota’s various agricultural sectors.

South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden will celebrate National Agriculture Day today (March 18, 2025) in Pierre, Fort Pierre and Onida for day two of his Open for Opportunity Tour.

Rhoden will start the day with an interview with DRG Media Group’s Jody Heemstra. He will then visit Ringneck Energy Ethanol Plant in Onida before meeting with local ag producers for coffee and conversation. Rhoden will then join a local rancher for “lambing” followed by a visit the to the Kiwanis Club Pancake Feed in Fort Pierre.
