Town leaders from Pierre, Wessington Springs reelected to district offices for SD Municipal League

The Pierre city administrator will serve another term as the District 5 Chairperson for the South Dakota Municipal League.

Kristi Honeywell was reelected during a meeting this week (March 19, 2025) in Miller. She said regardless of size, municipalities face some of the same challenges, so discussions with leaders from other communities provide valuable insight.

Honeywell said membership in the Municipal League also ensures someone is watching out for them during annual legislative sessions.

As the district chair, Honeywell will represent the district on the SDML Board of Directors.

Wessington Springs Finance Officer Linda Willman was reelected as Vice Chair.

Additionally, Municipal League Executive Director Sara Rankin recapped the outcome of the 2025 Legislative Session and the impact new laws will have on South Dakota towns.

In other business, those attending voted to hold the 2026 District 5 Meeting in Pierre.
