March 31, 2025:
Ten people were injured when a privately owned motor coach rolled on Interstate 90 just before 4pm Saturday (March 29, 2025) near Draper.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says preliminary information indicates a 2024 Jefferson Bus Lines motor coach was traveling east on I-90 near mile marker 207 when the 63 year old male driver lost control. The bus entered the south ditch and rolled onto the passenger side.
Seven passengers sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and two passengers sustained minor injuries and three other passengers weren’t injured. The passengers ranged in age from 10 to 65 years old.
Eastbound traffic on I-90 was routed around the area while rescuers were responding to the scene. The motor coach was left in the south ditch until it could be safely removed.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The names of those involved have not been released.
March 30, 2025:
Interstate 90 is back open again after a private motor coach rollover near the Vivian exit Saturday evening (March 29, 2025).
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, emergency crews responded to a private bus line rollover at milepost 207, which is just west of the Vivian exit. Several passengers were injured in the crash and were transported for their injuries.
The bus was left in the south ditch until it can be safely removed.
The Highway Patrol thanks everyone involved in responding to and working the scene.
Earlier in the day, the eastbound lanes of I-90 east of the Murdo Exit, were blocked when a semi jack-knifed. Crews were able to clear the scene to allow traffic to pass through the area.
