What a turnaround for the Twins. Starting the season off 0-4 and putting an unsettling feeling in Twins fans all over, but getting off the mat and winning back-to-back before heading home. The Twins didn’t have the ideal start to their season, getting swept by the Cardinals and then losing the first of three to a lowly White Sox team. But their perseverance paid off as the bats got going in games two and three against Chicago.
After a near 3.5 hour rain delay yesterday afternoon, the Twins didn’t miss a beat as Byron Buxton bombed a first inning homer to set the tone for the late-afternoon matchup. The rest of the Twins would follow suit, including Harrison Bader who added yet another three-run homer to his collection and help boost Minnesota to a 6-1 win.
On the bump, Pablo Lopez hurled a gem, going 7 IP, registering 5 K’s and only giving up 4 hits. Oddly enough, the Twins now sitting at 2-4 are also sitting tied for first in the AL Central, and gladly come home for their home-opener against another 2-4 team in the Houston Astros. First pitch for the Twins Opening Day will be this afternoon at 3:10, you can listen live on KGFX 1060 AM or on 103.1 FM in the Pierre area.
