Closure planned for this afternoon on S.D. Highway 204 for controlled burn near Oahe Dam northwest of Pierre

A section of S.D. Highway 204, across from the Oahe Dam northwest of Pierre, will be temporarily closed Monday (April 7, 2025) while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers administers a controlled burn of vegetation at the face of the Dam.

Highway 204 will be closed at approximately noon CT and is expected to reopen to traffic by 5pm CT.

The Corps will put traffic control personnel along S.D. Highway 1806 and Highway 204 to direct commuters to Power House Road, which will serve as the detour route while the controlled burn is underway. Additionally, a 14-foot width restriction will be in effect for Power House Road on Monday.
