Volunteers wanted for Pierre’s annual Go Green and Clean campaign

Pierre’s 15th annual Go Green and Clean campaign begins later this month.

City Parks and Recreation Director Bryan Tipton says volunteers can pick their own project or he has a list of options they can choose from.

Tipton says volunteers clean up a variety of areas around town.

Tipton says volunteers set their own schedule for doing the cleanup, but groups typically go out between Earth Day (April 22) and the middle of May.

The Go Green and Clean campaign is a civic pride effort designed to get the city spruced up for the summer season. In 2024, more than 100 volunteers and volunteer groups participated in the effort. Collectively, they cleared four tons of trash and debris from public spaces in Pierre.
