The City of Mobridge and its Water and Sewer Department employees were recognized at Wednesday night’s City Council meeting with awards for providing safe drinking water to the public. Mobridge Mayor Gene Cox read the press release from the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Council approved the second reading of Ordinance 25-01, the airbnb licensing ordinance revision.
New Business
Canvass of the city election results was approved, with Jade Mound receiving 33 votes and Jenny Goetz 71 votes.
Water/Sewer Dept.
For the Water and Sewer Department the council approved:
- a fire hydrant replacement quote not to exceed $100,000;
- a proposal for geotechnical engineering services in the amount of $7600.00 for the wastewater plant project;
- a pay request to Sentry for $294,901.40 for the water treatment plant project;
- and a change order to Muth Electric for $2624.00 for the water treatment plant project.
Finance Department
Council gave approval to the 2024 audit agreement with Cahill, Bauer, and Associates.
Several retail on/off sale malt beverage licenses were approved.
Code Enforcement Officer Mike Nehls received an increase in wages.
The 2025 parks staff list was approved.
Council approved a building mover’s license for a mobile home and also a permit to move the mobile home on the city’s streets to its location on 7th Avenue East.
Council held discussion and then passed a motion to approve Resolution 25-05 setting the number of short term rentals at 30. They also set the fees for application of short term rentals at $500.00 and renewal at $100.00.
Also approved at Wednesday night’s meeting was Resolution 25-07 to apply for a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant for a splash pad at the west-side play park by the senior center that could also be used as an ice skating rink. Construction would not begin until 2026 or 2027.
