This is Severe Weather Preparedness Week (April 7-11, 2025) in South Dakota.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Steve Fleegel says if you hear thunder or see lightning, it’s best to go inside.
Fleegel says another aspect of severe weather is tornadoes.
He says a basement is the best place for you to go in case of a tornado.
Fleegel says flooding is another possible event caused by severe weather.
