The Twins are back in the win column after suffering a three-game sweep at the hands of the Braves over the weekend. Minnesota welcomed in a struggling Chicago White Sox squad in for game one of a three-game set, and got the win with a little drama sprinkled in.
With 2 outs in the top of the ninth and leading 4-2, the White Sox had runners on second and third with the go-ahead run at the plate. Andrew Benintendi hit a deep shot to right-center field that sent Byron Buxton streaking into the gap. Buxton, with a full-body stretch, extended and made a theatrical diving catch to secure the win for Minnesota and improve the Twins to 8-15 on the season.
Bailey Ober went six strong innings, earning his second win of the season, and Trevor Larnach helped his squad with a two-run homerun, but everyone is talking about Buxton’s game-saving catch which you can watch here.
The Twins can win the series today against the White Sox with a win, and they will send out David Festa to get the job done. First pitch is set for 6:40 PM CT on KGFX 1060 AM or 103.1 FM in the Pierre area.
