Pierre City Commissioner Blake Barringer is one of five candidates running for two spots on the Pierre City Commission in June.
Barringer says he’s moved to Pierre in 1980 after graduating from the School of Mines in Rapid City.
Barringer says being active with various community groups has provided him with opportunities to hear about concerns from Pierre residents of differing backgrounds.
When Barringer was first elected to the Pierre City Commission in 2016, two topics he wanted to focus on were activities for youth and quality of life. He says Pierre has made progress in both areas and he’d like to be involved in continuing that work.

With one open seat and two candidates filing petitions, the Stanley County School Board will also hold an election June 3. Those candidates are incumbent Tyler Green and Ty Norman.
