May 2, 2025:
Repair work is scheduled to begin Monday (May 5, 2025) on Interstate 90 near exit 212, west of Vivian.
According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, eastbound traffic on I-90 will be detoured around the repair project by using the eastbound off-ramp and on-ramp at exit 212. To allow traffic on I-90 to continue uninterrupted, STOP signs will be put up at this location for southbound traffic on U.S. Highway 83 and northbound traffic on S.D. Highway 53.
Project work will consist of removal of the existing asphalt and granular base followed by replacement of a new granular base and concrete pavement. This work is expected to be finished in June 2025. The overall project completion date for the $2.7 million project is Nov. 7, 2025.

April 16, 2025:
Work is scheduled to begin Tuesday (April 22, 2025) on the exit and entrance ramps at exit 214 on Interstate 90 east of Vivian.
According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, this project requires closing the eastbound and westbound ramps at near Vivian and the crossroad to Highway 248 for approximately four weeks.
The $2.7 million project work will consist of removal of the existing asphalt and granular base followed by heavy roadway shaping in this area. New base material and asphalt will be placed on the newly finished grade. SDDOT says this grading work creates a nearly impassable driving surface, thus the need to temporarily close the ramps.
Work is then scheduled to begin at the crossroad leading to Highway 248 at exit 208 on I-90. Work at this location will consist of removal of the existing base, reshaping the base and placement of asphalt concrete. The roadway at exit 208 and the crossroad to Highway 248 will remain open at all times, with traffic controlled by flaggers.
The grading project work is expected to be completed in June of 2025. The overall project completion date is Nov. 7, 2025.
