The Burke School District is one of six in South Dakota that have been awarded grants to “modernize their Career and Technical Education programs.”
The two South Dakota Workforce Education Grants and four South Dakota Perkins Reserve Grants awarded total over $600,000 ($601,550.45).
Burke received a Workforce Education Grant worth $225,000. The money will be used to purchase of industry-grade equipment and to construct a new CTE addition focused on agriculture, food, and natural resources (AFNR) classes.
Secretary of Education Joe Graves says the grants are investments “in the future of our students, our economy, and our communities.” He says by supporting hands-on learning and industry-aligned training, South Dakota students are preparing to thrive in “high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand careers.”
