In a scorcher out at Riggs Field yesterday afternoon the Brandon Valley Lynx used some well-placed hits and well-timed offense to beat the Govs by a final score of 9-1. It was a day full of hard hit softballs, the problem for the Govs was they hit them all where Lynx fielders were positioned. A stark contrast to the Lynx afternoon at the plate where they seemed to find every gap out at Riggs Field.
Brandon Valley scored first with small-ball, turning a single and stolen base into the games first run after a couple of groundouts. Pierre answered with a one-out single from Charli Hull and a 2-out RBI triple from Alivia Heymans. The Lynx would add two more in the fourth inning, then really opened the flood gates with great hitting putting together a six-run fifth inning. The Lynx finished the day with 14 hits, Macy Lembcke with three of those, but an all-around balanced offense throughout the lineup helped the Lynx cruise to the victory. Gabrielle Kriech earned the win and went the distance inside the circle for the Lynx finishing her complete game with six strikeouts and only allowing four hits. Kenzi Flottmeyer came in to relieve Noel Kist and had three scoreless innings in the loss.
The Govs fall to 3-14 while Brandon Valley improved to 10-3 with the win. Pierre now looks ahead to tomorrow’s matchup on the road against a 4-7 O’Gorman team, first pitch set for 6:00 PM CT.
