The hottest team in baseball is the Minnesota Twins, and they have just won their eleventh-straight ballgame, sweeping the Baltimore Orioles for the second straight time during this streak with a 4-0 road victory earlier this afternoon. The Twins (or should I say Twwwwwwwwwwwins) got most of their runs with the long-ball. DeShawn Kiersy Jr. and Byron Buxton both launching homeruns in the third inning to stretch the lead out to three. In the seventh inning, Royce Lewis added what would be some unneeded insurance with an RBI single scoring Willi Castro. Chris Paddack added another great start to the resume of the Twins rotation with seven innings of three hit baseball and earning the win moving him to 2-3 on the season. I think it is safe to say the Orioles are glad they won’t be seeing the Twins again this season.
The only stain on an otherwise perfect day for Minnesota was a scary collision in shallow-center field where Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton crashed into each other trying to catch a weak pop-fly off the bat of Cedric Mullins. You can watch the video by clicking here for yourself. Both players were attended to by Twins medical staff, Correa was immediately pulled while Buxton finished the inning before he was also removed from the game. MLB.com reported that both players have been put in concussion protocol after the collision.
The Twins now head out to Milwaukee for a three game series with the Brewers before coming home for a six-game homestand. Tomorrow’s game against the Brewers begins at 7:10 CT and you can listen live on KGFX 1060 AM or on 103.1 FM in the Pierre area.
