May 19, 2025:
A 65 year old woman from Winner died and a 29 year old woman from Sioux Falls was seriously injured in a two vehicle crash 10 miles northeast of Armour, Wednesday afternoon (May 14, 2025, 2:20pm).
Preliminary crash information indicates Sheryl Lynn Tate, the driver of a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country, was traveling east on SD Highway 44. A Peterbilt semi with dump trailer, driven by Matthew James Boelter, was traveling the same direction ahead of the Chrysler and had slowed down for a right turn. The approaching Chrysler swerved to the right, colliding with the right rear side of the dump trailer.
Boelter, the driver of the semi, was not injured. Tate was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a passenger in the Chrysler, Annette Dawn Farmer, sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

One woman died and another was seriously injured in a two vehicle crash 10 miles northeast of Armour, SD, Wednesday afternoon (May 14, 2025, 2:20pm).
The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates the 65 year old female driver of a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country was traveling east on SD Highway 44. A Peterbilt semi with dump trailer, driven by a 38 year old male from Tyndall, was traveling the same direction ahead of the Chrysler and had slowed down for a right turn. The approaching Chrysler swerved to the right, colliding with the right rear side of the dump trailer.
The driver of the semi, who is from Tyndall, was not injured. The driver of the Chrysler, who was from Winner, was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a 24 year old female passenger from Sioux Falls in the Chrysler sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
