The Twins shook off back-to-back losses yesterday with a win over the Tampa Bay Rays, winning 4-2 and evening up the three game series. Minnesota got the scoring started early in the first inning when Brooks Lee drove in a run on a sac-fly, then in the second inning they would add another thanks to a Kody Clemens homerun that traveled 415 feet to center field. Tampa would try to chip away at the lead with a run in the fourth, but Minnesota would add some insurance in the sixth after an error allowed Ryan Jeffers to come home. After a Rays run in the seventh, Minnesota would add a little insurance on a Ty France single that would score Carlos Correa. Joe Ryan picked up the win for the Twins on the mound throwing 6.0 innings of one-run ball.
Minnesota now improves to 30-24 and are still 5.0 games back of the red-hot Detroit Tigers. The Twins will look to win the series in the rubber match today in an early start with Pablo Lopez on the mound.
