After an off-day Thursday, the Twins continued their cross-country road trip up in Seattle against the Mariners. It had been a tough week for Minnesota who had lost three of their last four, and the start of yesterday’s game felt like another loss was coming around the corner. Seattle scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning putting the Twins behind the eight-ball from the jump. the Twins would answer back in the fourth with a couple runs of their own, Trevor Larnach supplying one with a homerun.
Trailing by three runs in the ninth inning, a Willi Castro two-run homer gave the Twins life, cutting the deficit to one. Then, Larnach would provide again with a game-tying single to even the score up at six.
The Twins carried that momentum into the tenth scoring six runs and taking all of the air out of the Mariners sails. Carlos Correa homered, Byron Buxton drove in two with a base hit and Trevor Larnach continued his tear in this game with another RBI single putting the Twins ahead 12-6. Seattle would not be able to answer and the Twins won a game they really never felt in control of until the ninth inning. Minnesota looks to win the series later today at 6:15 and you can listen live on KGFX 1060 AM or 103.1 FM in the Pierre area.
