Because of four of the statues on the Trail of Governors in Pierre have been relocated for the summer because of the Euclid Avenue reconstruction project, this year’s route for the 8th annual Run With the Govs will be different than in past years.
The event will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, with runners and walkers taking off from the front of South Dakota’s State Capitol Building at 8:30 a.m. CDT. The 3.5-mile trek showcases the 31 statues along the Trail, with this year’s featured statue being of the state’s 8th governor. Governor Frank Byrne served from 1913-1917. His statue is located in front of the state Department of Transportation headquarters on E. Broadway Avenue.
Registration is open at Runsignup.com/Race/SD/Pierre/RunWiththeGovsSD.
Due to construction, these statues have been temporarily moved.

-
Governors Herreid and McMaster have moved to the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, from their usual locations on Pierre Street.
